About City

London is the capital and most populated city of England as well the United Kingdom. Flip over on the River Thames in the southeast of the island of Great Britain, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. Londinium was founded by the Romans. The City of London, London's ancient core − covering an area of just 1.12 square miles and nicknamed the Square Mile − retains its medieval boundaries. The City of Westminster is an Inner London division which also holds city status. It conquers much of the central area of Greater London counting most of the West End. It is in the west of the City of London. Greater London is governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.

London has a innumerable range of people and cultures, and more than 300 languages are vocalized in the region. It is  estimated that mid-2016 municipal population  was 8,787,892, the largest of any city in the European Union and accounting for 13.4% of the UK population. London's metropolitan area is the second most populous in the EU, after Paris, with  a count of 9,787,426 inhabitants at the 2011 census. The city's cosmopolitan area is the most populous in the EU with 14,040,163 inhabitants in 2016, while the Greater London Authority states the population of the city-region as 22.7 million. London was the world's most populated city from around 1831 to 1925.

London is one of the finanace based industry  in the City of London and Canary Wharf, the two major Central Business Districts in London. London is one of the outstanding financial centres of the world as the most important location for international finance. London took over as a major financial centre in a bit after 1795 when the Dutch Republic warped before the Napoleonic armies. For many bankers established in Amsterdam, this was only time to move to London. The London financial elite was bound by a strong Jewish community from all over Europe capable of mastering the most sophisticated financial tools of the time. This unique attention of talents accelerated the transition from the Commercial Revolution to the Industrial Revolution. By the end of the 19th century, Britain was the prosperous of all nations, and London a leading financial centre. Still, as of 2016 London tops the world rankings on the Global Financial Centres Index and it ranked second in A.T. Kearney's 2018 Global Cities Index.
